Full Time Nesters

You and everyone else can pick your poison. I don't care and even if I did it wouldn't matter. I'm not exactly prejudiced for or against any particular one article of congress and commerce. So, it's lucky I feel that way because now we have three hives of speed freaks around here. One of them is right next door. The king of this hive was alright for a while, but then his wife split. We call his new girlfriend Mrs. Crank. She looks like she's inside out, when you can even see her.

I go out with the hounds in the morning when it's still dark. They'll scare up a missionary on patrol now and then. The one they found in the bushes this morning decided to come out of there. Mostly, they don't do that when we find them.

I told him it was alright, sorry we disturbed him, the dogs just thought he was a possum because he looked and smelled like one and he was in a bush, whining. He went by me, grinding his teeth, flapping and looking up and groaning or something, and hustled off into the dark.

The dogs didn't chase him. They never do. They sat looking after him, then they looked at me. "I can't explain it" I told them "but he's having a good time." We went looking for loose cats after that but they were all in trees or behind fences. Pretty disappointing for the dogs, yet a testament to the intelligence inherent in cats.

Mrs. Crank watched us come in, from behind her fence where she feels safe, like the cats do, I guess. I know she's there because the dogs get nervous when they walk past her spot. I always say "Good Morning" when she's out there.

I bet she could communicate with the bushman. Probably, she already has. There is a lot of interchange between the hives. They won't talk to me and they won't look at anyone. I don't care, like I said. I remain my regular pleasant motherfucking self.

I've been thinking I ought to make an anonymous drop of barbituates over there, next door, maybe even things out. Those guys need help. What a life to lead full time for christsakes.
