Just imagine
you went to the hospital because you couldn't breathe
you go in
they hook you up to the oxygen
you can watch the gauge
but you probably shouldn't
when it goes down to 0 or even before
you might run out while you watch
then what
because they don't have any more, maybe
nobody comes to check, you can't yell or call
you can't breathe
did they get some?

Google isn't liking me today. Here goes my second attempt at a response. Woke up this morning to catch wind of the newly escalating tragedies in Gaza and Lod, and news that the India variant is gathering pace here in Glasgow. It struck me that your line, "when it goes down to 0 or even before / you might run out while you watch" is particularly apposite. Meantime, oxygen canisters continue to rust in storage, and Mother India diverts foreign aid to engage in this new century's space race and sundry otherworldly activities.
